Wisconsin therapist charged with sexual exploitation of client

A former Wisconsin therapist is charged with criminal exploitation of a client who attended counseling as part of court-ordered drug and alcohol treatment.

Former Waukesha County Health and Human Services employee Kristina Daul, 42, is accused of having sex with a client from December 2020 to the summer of 2021. In a first court appearance on Friday, her surety was set at $ 50,000. She is due to return to a judge on Tuesday.


The victim, who was receiving drug and alcohol treatment through the county drug treatment court, said that she and Daul would engage in sexual acts about three to five times a week at the office of Daul after therapy sessions, often putting a “do not disturb” sign on the door, according to the criminal complaint obtained by Fox 6. The victim told the witness that her treatments were changed around the same time that she and her therapist “were arguing or not getting along in their personal relationship.” The victim also told law enforcement that she “had knowledge” of “protected health information” concerning between 20 and 30 of Daul’s other clients during their relationships. The victim also claimed that she and Daul would have sex while Daul held telephone therapy sessions with other clients, WDJT reported.


Prosecutors said Daul mentioned an old relationship with one of his clients on social media, writing in an article that the therapist “chose LOVE over ethics – which I was wrong.” . Daul filed a temporary restraining order against the victim in August 2021, writing that the victim was an ex-girlfriend who cost Daul her job at Waukesha County Health and Human Services.
