DULUTH, Minnesota – The UMD women’s hockey team have yet another huge WCHA game this weekend.
The Bulldogs welcome an undefeated and top-ranked Wisconsin team to AMSOIL Arena for a two-game series.
The programs have a combined total of 11 national titles between them and will meet again as two of the top-ranked teams in the NCAA.
UMD comes in at 2-2 on aggregate, having split a hard-fought series against Minnesota at home. The Badgers come in with a dominant record of 6-0, edging their opponents by a combined margin of 39-2 to open their season.
The last time they met, the UMD took four of six possible points in their regular season, via a win and loss in overtime.
“From last year’s series that’s what we did a good job of, keeping the puck when we have it, putting it where we can get it,” said the coach. -Chief Maura Crowell.
“We can win foot races with any team in the country, so we have speed, we want to use it. I think our failure before was really good the last time we faced them, that is. is how we want to replay. “
The two matches will be spread over three days, with the first match starting Friday at noon.
“I would say Minnesota and Wisconsin are pretty similar teams, so having a weekend to adjust to that speed, and coming back next weekend will definitely help,” said senior forward Naomi Rogge. .
