Phoenix Suns Trail Only Milwaukee Bucks in ESPN Power Rankings

The Phoenix Suns are off to a good start and everyone seems to be doing their part.

Devin Booker scores at will, Chris Paul orchestrates the Phoenix attack, and the rest of the plays fell just as the Suns envisioned.

The Suns are 6-1, their only loss being an overtime loss via classic Dame Time fashion to the Portland Trail Blazers. Phoenix tied the record for the best start in franchise history after defeating the Western Conference’s top projected seeds such as the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks.

ESPN has the Suns as No. 2 in their power rankings this week, just behind the Milwaukee Bucks who remain an undefeated team.

Suns finish No. 2 in ESPN Power rankings

“It’s been a storied week for the Point God. On Saturday against the Rockets, Chris Paul finished with 15 assists and zero turnovers. It was the ninth time he had at least 15 assists in a game. without a turnover, which is the second all-time in NBA history behind only John Stockton (14) since individual turnovers were first tracked in 1977-78. Paul is also the oldest player to have a game with 15 assists since Steve Nash, 38, did so for the Suns on March 28, 2012. And on Tuesday against Wolves, Paul joined LeBron James as the only player in NBA history with 21,000 points and 10,000 assists.-André Lopez

After Milwaukee and Phoenix, Cleveland, Boston and Portland complete the top five.

The Suns are expected to host the Trail Blazers for a straight game this weekend.
