Pat’s Rib Place opens this week at the Milwaukee Public Market

Waukesha Pat’s Rib Place restaurant begins selling its Memphis-style barbecue on Friday at the Milwaukee Public Market in the Third Quarter.

The public market first announced in April that the restaurant would join its list of vendors.

Alisha and Tydus Hayes opened the first Pat's Rib Place in Waukesha in 2009. They expanded the size of the Waukesha restaurant in 2018.

Pat’s Rib Place has approximately 600 square feet of space in the Public Market, between West Allis Cheese & Sausage and St. Paul Fish Co. it replaces the Soup Market, whose lease has not been renewed. The Soup Vendor has several other locations in the Milwaukee area, including a new store in Oak Creek.

Meats, such as ribs, ribs, pork shoulder, brisket and pastrami, will be smoked daily at the market. The owners, Alisha and Tydus Hayes, also make the sauces available on their own and sold in take-out jars.

Side dishes will include cornbread, smoked baked beans, smoked fries, sweet potato fries, fried okra and creamy house coleslaw. Pat’s Rib Place, named after Alisha Hayes’ mother, also makes desserts: bread pudding, banana pudding, and trendy peach cobbler.

The Marketplace, in its announcement, notes that the location will be the first and only Pat’s Rib Place in Milwaukee.

Pat’s Rib Place will begin serving daily at 11 am; the market is open until 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday.
