We are in mid-January and the weather keeps getting colder. But don’t worry, we can brighten up those winter blues with a list of fun this weekend. On deck we have the premiere of the Waukesha Janboree. Samson Stomp and Romp are back. Embrace the magical world of Harry Potter at the Yule Ball. Cheer on the Bucks, Wave, Golden Eagles and Panthers. West Allis winter week will begin. Fill your stomach with delicious chilies during the cook-off. Lucafest and the Miramar Madness Music Festival will take place and share a whole range of artists. Dive into this guide and get ready to fill your schedule with pleasure.

FRIDAY

OPENING OF THE 3RD STREET TRADING ROOM
The highly anticipated 3rd Street Market Hal will open its doors to the public this Friday at 11 a.m. It’s a new 40,000 square foot dining epicenter for the Westown neighborhood. It will offer a variety of dining options. Customers will be able to experience food and drink from five vendor stations. There will also be a bar, snookball, shuffleboard, giant jenga, bags and video games.

HAIR BALL
This tribute to the 80s hair band goes to MKE. You can play everything from Guns N’ Roses to Def Leppard and more. This will happen this Friday at 7:30 p.m. Grab tickets here to check it out at the Pabst Theatre: https://www.pabsttheatergroup.com/events/detail/hairball2020

GIL QUARTET
This band brings you the likes of Santana to Ellington. No matter what they play, you’ll appreciate the flair they put into their songs. They will come by SIP MKE to perform. Get a ticket to stop, taste wine and fill your ears with music.

JOHNNY BEHNER
The Laughing Tap welcomes this comedian who started his career in MKE but after his debut on the “Late Show” with David Letterman, he exploded and started doing comedy all over the country. This Friday, he returns to where he started it all to share his standup. The show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.

SUBJECTIVE
Var Gallery & Studios presents a night of comedy combined with art. Each month, four local comedians bring their jokes on stage between paintings, sculptures, drawings, ironwork, etc. You can check everything at 8 p.m.

MILWAUKEE WAVE
Our football team returns to the field. This time around, they will face the Chihuahua Savage. The game will start here at 6:35 p.m.

RETRO DANCE EVENING
It’s the first of the new year, so come dance the night away to DJ tunes from the 80s and 90s. Come party all night at Mad Planet starting at 9 p.m.

BIG BOOK SALE
Head to the Cudahy Library for a HUGE book sale. You can browse everything from hardbacks, paperbacks, paperbacks, children’s books, cookbooks/pamphlets, craft books, DVDs, CDs, paper collectibles, audiobooks, software, comics/manga, magazines, puzzles, games, etc. It happens from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LUCAFEST
FM102.1 presents LUCAFEST 2022! It will be an all-day Milwaukee Music Festival featuring some of the best artists Milwaukee has to offer, brought to you by LUCAWORLDWIDE and Breaking and Entering. The lineup features 10 artists, including Moonglow, Nilexnile and more.
It all starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15.

MARQUETTE MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Golden Eagles return to the Fiserv Forum for a home game this Saturday. You can come and support them as they take on Seton Hall. They will play early at 11 a.m.

DEER

YOGA IN THE HEART OF THE HOME
Collective Flow Yoga will be leading this yoga session at the Riverside Park location. You can join them for this beginner level class at 11am. The session is 45 minutes followed by hot drinks.

TRIBUTE EVENING
Chicago’s first tribute to Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple Of The Dog is back in MKE. Come to Shank Hall to embrace some grunge rock with this Super-Unknown crew. TEN Chicago will open the evening with music from Pearl Jam. Tickets are $12 and the show starts at 8 p.m.

STARMAN: A DAVID BOWIE DANCE EVENING
Celebrate the life and music of this legend. Come dress as your favorite Bowie personality, from Major Tom to Ziggy Stardust and more. The DJ will spin Bowie all night from 9 p.m.

MIRAMAR FOLIE MUSIC FESTIVAL
This EDM place will offer a whole musical program this Saturday. Head over to enjoy a mini-festival featuring artists like Lil Nexus, DJ Brotha Z and more. It starts at 9 p.m.

THE DOCKSIDERS
America’s favorite Yacht Rock tribute band arrives at the Pabst Theatre. This team will play the best soft rock songs from the 70s and 80s. Come and let yourself be transported by their music at 8 p.m. Tickets are available here:

7TH ANNUAL KITCHEN IN CHILE
The Standard Tavern can officially make the return of this annual tradition. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., come and warm up by trying all kinds of peppers. Participants will bring their best slow cooker version. You will all be the judges and help determine who made the best prize.
Prizes will then go to the Top 3.

WEST ALLIS WINTER WEEK LAUNCH
Embrace the cold with this week of winter fun. To start, they will have a winter treasure hunt and photos of yesteryear. Come help them launch it this Sunday at 2 p.m.

YOGA WITH CATS
Roll out your mat at the cat cafe and do some yoga with a kitty friend. Seats are limited so be sure to reserve yours here and join them at 10am

WORD WITH A BIRD
The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center will spend time sharing their raptor program. You will have the chance to learn the specific skills, traits and adaptations that are unique to the featured bird. Come and find out at 1 p.m.

BLACK BEER RELEASE PARTY
The New Barons Brewing Cooperative will launch its Schwarzbier-inspired brew. This is a medium light lager that has a roast and bready flavor with subtle dark fruit notes and a punk rock inspiration. You can be one of the first to try it at the brasserie from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

DISCO BRUNCH
Brunch has become Disco this Sunday at the Iron Horse Hotel. Put on some bell bottoms and get ready to dance to funky DJ beats. There will also be bottomless mimosas for $20 and a Bloody Mary bar for $14. Make your reservation here and get ready to feel the Disco fever.

WOMEN PANTHER SNEAKERS
At Klotsche Arena, the Panthers will face the Cleveland State Vikings. Come and find out at 2 p.m.

MARQUETTE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
This Sunday, the Golden Eagles return to the Al McGuire Center to take on Villanova. Cheer them on against this Big East rival at 1 p.m.

YULE BALL
Calling all Harry Potter fans! Don’t miss this spellbinding two-day celebration of the Triwizard Tournament at the annual Turner Hall Yule Ball. It involves a costume contest, spooky cocktail parties, interactive experiences and more. Wizards, witches, alumni and students of magic are all invited. The guest list is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot here, then hop on your broomstick and arrive at the party at 8 p.m. sharp.

SAMSON STOMP AND ROMP
The annual Samson Stomp Run and Walk is held Saturday and Sunday at the zoo. They have reinvented the traditional race to allow safe participation. Runners and walkers can complete the course at the zoo anytime from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day to honor one of the zoo’s most famous residents, Samson, a silverback gorilla who has made people smile for years ( 1950-1981). WAUKESHA JANBOREE
This weekend kicks off the Wisconsin Waukesha Janboree Winter Festival! ELVIS UNPLUGGED & ROCKIN’
Come see this tribute to the king of rock n’ roll. Multi-award winning Elvis Presley tribute band Chance Tinder & Project Presley will perform everything from “Suspicious Minds” to “That’s Alright Mama” and more. Go there to relax and enjoy 90 minutes of that Elvis sound.

MEN’S PIANOS
This show is equal parts concert and song. Come watch two pianists play a unique setlist of rock, pop, classical, Broadway and everything in between. The show is also filled with hilarious stories you won’t want to miss. This show kicks off this weekend and will run until February 27. Tickets are available here.

TONI STONE
This theatrical event tells the story of the first black woman to turn professional in baseball leagues. It will follow Toni’s journey as she fights for love, equality and a chance to play baseball.
