Odd Duck, who last summer announced plans to move from his longtime Bay View home to new digs, is set to feed diners again. The globally oriented small-plate restaurant is taking dinner reservations — at the new space, 939 S. Second St. at Walker’s Point — beginning Friday, March 31.
Owners Melissa Buchholz and Ross Bachhuber bought the Walker’s Point building in 2021. It was formerly occupied by Meraki, which closed in 2020. Owning their own building was a goal of the partners, who said they would miss Bay View, they are excited to be a part of the WP resto scene. The space also offers more seating and an expanded kitchen which Bachhuber called a “game changer” by giving them the ability to spread their wings even further than they already do.
As for the menu, I can only tell you what they’re teasing on social media – things like quesabirria with suckling pig; crispy oyster mushrooms with tsukemono pickles, purple daikon and wagarashi mustard; a large plate of wood-fired za’atar flatbread, pickles, eggplant salad, roasted beets with lemon, zhoug hummus, fennel-olive with citrus; and trout salad under a fur coat (a plate from past menus).
