Boxing Day is usually a relaxing time for many, and this year it was even more evident as Boxing Day fell on a Sunday.
Sadly, an incident was reported to the Walden Galleria and for some reason this is the last December 26 edition of fighting that broke out in Buffalo’s most popular mall; which has happened several times in recent years.
According to the Southtowns Scanner on Facebook on Sunday night, several brawls involving around 150 young people broke out at the Walden Galleria.
Fighting started in the food court and took place in several areas of the mall’s property. Shots were even reported in the parking lot.
According to the scanner, security at the mall asked for reinforcement from the police, who arrived shortly after calling for help.
Southtowns Scanner reported in the comments section that an individual had a gun in the parking lot area. It was around 7:34 p.m.
Additional reports said the mall was completely emptied shortly after 8 p.m., with no further help needed at the time.
So far, it is not known how much, if anyone was injured during this time or how the fighting (s) started. No further updates have been made at this point.
Walden Galleria recently announced that a schedule change will begin on January 2. They will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
We will update this story when more information is known.
