Jacqueline Schmidt x Chasing Paper, the new collection from Milwaukee-based removable wallpaper company Chasing Paper, launched today. The collection is in collaboration with Brooklyn artist Jaqueline Schmidt.
“We were connected through a mutual friend in early 2021, and I was actually working on a playroom for my daughters,” said Elizabeth Rees, co-founder of Chasing Paper. “One of his prints, ‘Woodland,’ I was like, ‘I want to put this in my daughters’ playroom.'”
The collection is made up of 15 different prints, each available in four different sizes. Rees says she was drawn to Schmidt’s work because of the unique feminine touch it has – how prints can be whimsical yet sophisticated at the same time.
“This collection, I think, has a really great range, and Jacqueline is such a pleasure to work with,” she says. “She’s so talented and has been so collaborative from the start.”
Designs like ‘Birds of Paradise’ and ‘Woodland’ highlight the whimsical side of the collection, while customer favorites projected by Rees, ‘Plaid’ and ‘Twigs’ take on a more formal feel.
“We are always looking for artists and designers to work with [the papers] could do both; that they can be playful and imaginative, but also still elevated and still something that could fit inside or outside a child’s bedroom,” says Rees.
And as spring approaches, Rees thinks all the papers in the collection are perfect for rooms that need a little spring cleaning. Whether it’s a child’s bedroom or a powder room accent wall, she says the patterns in even the boldest prints are versatile.
“Between the florals and the neutrals, I feel like this collection could give a fun start to any room, so we’re excited to see where our customers are using it,” says Rees.
