The Wisconsin Badgers (4-3 overall, 2-2 Big Ten) are on the smallest of the reels. They’ve won three games in a row, a winning streak that included an elusive victory over a Top 25 team, and the running game bridges the gap on defense as the team’s certified “strength”.
While waiting for the Badgers this weekend, the No.9 Iowa Hawkeyes (6-1 overall, 3-1 Big Ten), a team built quite similarly to the Badgers. Iowa is relying on its excellent defense and absurd turnover margin to make up for an offense that, in terms of distance, is worse than Wisconsin‘s.
Wisconsin will seek to reclaim the Heartland Trophy, which Iowa won last year for the first time in four years, and will continue to control its own destiny in the Big Ten West. The Hawkeyes had two weeks to heal their wounds after being destroyed by Purdue on their last outing. Have they fixed the issues that arose against the Boilermakers or are they starting their descent to another eight- or nine-game winning season?
