The loved one Milwaukee Metal Festival originally ran from 1987 to 2004, but now Jamey Jasta of hate race (who played the festival at the time) acquired the rights to the festival and will bring it back in 2023. Jamey says:
I am so grateful and delighted that [founder] Jack Koshick passed me the torch of Milwaukee Metalfest. He is a visionary and we will carry on the legacy of Milwaukee Metalfest for years to come.
Many of us have fond memories of Milwaukee Metalfest, and now is the time for it to return.
On a recent podcast I did with the late [The Black Dahlia Murder singer] Trevor Strnad, I dreamed of bringing the festival back and I even wanted Trevor to organize it with me. In light of his death, I feel the need to go all the way and relaunch the festival in 2023.
Jack Koshick adds:
Milwaukee Metalfest was a labor of love for me. I started working on it when I was 29; I am now 66 years old. I want to thank everyone, living and dead, for making this dream come true. Above all, I want to thank the bands, fans and teams who made this possible. The time has come to move on. I think Jamey Jasta and his partners will do a great job representing the brand. Until we meet again, I love you all.
Jamey also launched a new Milwaukee Metalfest website. Stay tuned for more.
