College World Series has a SEC flavor

The SEC is taking over the world of college baseball. Just like football.

The SEC has won three of the last four College World Series titles and has a good chance of winning another. With Texas and Stanford – the two favorites entering the tournament in Omaha – already eliminated, the rest of the field has a strong SEC flavor.

Oklahoma and Ole Miss are the two teams to have survived the early days of the double-elimination tournament undefeated. Oklahoma isn’t in the SEC yet, but it will be soon. The other four surviving teams are Notre Dame, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Auburn. The Irish must feel alone at this invitation from the SEC.

Games in Omaha continue on Tuesday. Arkansas takes on Auburn and Notre Dame takes on Texas A&M. Notre Dame is a -145 favorite at BetMGM.

Notre Dame still has a chance to spoil the party. In the super regional, the Irish knocked out Tennessee, the undisputed No. 1 team in the country this season. They can compete with the best in the SEC. Notre Dame also has a loss, so they can’t afford another.

Ole Miss has emerged as the new favorite to win it all. Since losing their SEC Tournament opener, the Rebels are 7-0 in regionals and the first two games of the College World Series. They beat Auburn 5-1 and Arkansas 13-5. They will face the Arkansas-Auburn winner for a rematch. With one more victory, they will move on to the championship series, which would be a first for the school.

Once again, the College World Series is governed by the SEC. It’s probably just a warm-up for the fall.

Here’s a first look at the sports betting slate for Tuesday:

MLB has a normal Tuesday

There are 15 games in Major League Baseball, all tonight. The highlight will be the New York Yankees against the Tampa Bay Rays as the Yankees’ incredible season continues.

Another key MLB series is the Milwaukee Brewers hosting the St. Louis Cardinals. The teams entered the series tied atop NL Central, and the Brewers won Monday’s opener 2-0 behind defending Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes. The Cardinals are -145 favorites on the road with Jack Flaherty on the mound for his second start this season.

What else can you bet on?

There are a few Champions League football games and four WNBA games, including defending champion Chicago Sky at the Las Vegas Aces 13-2. The Aces are favorites at 7.5 points.

Other than baseball, however, there won’t be much to bet on. Start studying the American pastime if you want some action this summer.

What is the best bet?

I will go with the Brewers. They’ve won four in a row and I’m not sure Flaherty is back after hurting his shoulder. They are a great underdog to support.
