Cleveland State women’s basketball set to host National Day of Girls and Women in Sports on Thursday

Cleveland, Ohio- The Cleveland State women’s basketball team is set to host this season’s National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Thursday, Feb. 24 in conjunction with its Horizon League game against Milwaukee.

NGWSD events are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Wolstein Center lobby, with tipping between the Vikings and Panthers scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Admission is FREE for all to attend NGWSD events and the basketball game, with doors opening at 6:00 p.m.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day is powered by the Women’s Sports Foundation and was created to recognize the achievements of female athletes, acknowledge the influence of sport participation for women and girls, and honor progress and ongoing fight for women’s equality in sport. . This season marks the 36and annual celebration of the nationwide event, and is the kickoff for the 50and Anniversary of Title IX.

Prior to Thursday’s game against Milwaukee, various campus departments and local groups will host educational and interactive opportunities in the lobby, exploring overall health and wellness.
