Children’s Wisconsin seeks help for Giving Tuesday

GREEN BAY, WB (WBAY) – Action 2 News shines a light on Wisconsin Children’s Donation Tuesday. The hospital made headlines for treating 16 patients following a Christmas parade rampage earlier this month that left six dead and dozens injured.

However, services provided by the hospital are helping children in need across the state, including nine-month-old Audrey Huss, who needs a liver transplant immediately.

Their year-round mission is to provide the best care for every child in Wisconsin, but they need your help to do it.

Giving Tuesday is an annual fundraising campaign, now in its tenth year. It started as a hashtag on social media to counter the growing ad campaigns this time of year.

Charities raised nearly $ 2.5 billion last time around, but as always, scammers are trying to take advantage of people’s generosity. The IRS has an online tool that you can use to check if a charity or organization is legitimate. You can find the Tax Exempt Organizations Finder by CLICKING HERE.

“Now there are charities that are not necessarily tax exempt federally that are, in fact, legitimate, but if you are looking for a federally tax exempt organization then of course you can deduct this donation also, you “can find this information using the tool on,” said Christopher Miller, IRS spokesperson for Wisconsin.

Consumer experts remind you to donate by credit card or check because if you are pressured to use gift cards or bank transfers, it is a red flag for a scam.
