According to Brewers Director Craig Counsell, RHP Corbin Burnes is likely to return from IL (undisclosed) on Thursday. Burnes kicked off a bullpen session on Monday but last appeared in the Marlins’ contest on April 26. It was, by far, his worst performance of the season. In five innings, he gave up five runs (four earned). His otherwise supernatural start to the season leaves him with a 1.53 ERA and a 0.545 WHIP.
LHP Brent Suter returns from the bereavement list today. Suter also had one last rough appearance. He gave up three points in his first start of the season in the Marlins’ May 7 contest. With the return of the starting rotation to health, Suter will probably return to a role of bullpen where he enjoys a 2.70 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.
Utility player Tim lopes recovered from an oblique injury sustained during spring training. He was placed on the 60-day IL at the time and will not be eligible to join the Major League club until the end of May. In the meantime, he’s headed to a Triple-A assignment in Nashville.
RHP Bobby wahl also competed in the 60-day IL with an oblique injury sustained during spring training. He’ll need a number of Double-A and Triple-A appearances before he can return to the Brewers’ pen.
