MILWAUKEE, WI – A chance of blowing snow Tuesday night and Wednesday could cause low visibility and risk to drivers north of a line between Madison and Milwaukee, the National Weather Service has reported.
A winter weather advisory has been issued in nearly 20 counties, including Waukesha, Milwaukee, Jefferson, Dane and Dodge counties. Forecasters said the risk of strong winds and snow could reduce visibility and make roads slippery Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, and could potentially linger in Wednesday night’s trips.
There are chances of strong gusts of wind up to 45 mph and snow up to 2 inches, which forecasters predict will affect the area north of Interstate 94. Areas south of the I -94 will see an inch or less of snow, but the strong winds are expected to blow snow around the area after last weekend’s blizzard.
Tuesday is expected to be partly sunny with a high of 33 throughout the day, but forecasters said temperatures would drop to 16 degrees at night and a 30 percent chance of snow would begin after 4 a.m. Wind gusts of up to 40 mph are possible.
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 2 to 11 a.m. There will be a 40 percent chance of snow before 1 p.m., with wind chill values as cold as 5 below. A 20 percent chance of snow is expected before 7 p.m.
On Thursday there will be a 30 percent chance of snow after 1 pm, and the partly sunny day will be a high of 17. Winds should be calmer at 15 mph.
