With the Chicago Blackhawks entering a rebuild and trading key players like Alex DeBrincat, there wasn’t much to look forward to in the upcoming season. When the NHL’s preseason schedule was released, fans finally had something worth discussing. The Chicago Blackhawks play a preseason game against the Minnesota Wild at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tickets went on sale today and the arena sold out.
On Maori NHL fandoms, Milwaukee is usually painted with Blackhawks fans. It was especially prevalent in the last three Stanley Cup races. Even though the game is a pre-season contest, it would be quite convenient for Milwaukee natives to check out the legendary franchise.
Milwaukee is still home to a strong hockey base. The Milwaukee Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, call Milwaukee home. The Admirals played at the Bradley Center until 2016, just before its final year of operation in 2018, when it was demolished for the Fiserv Forum. They then changed their home arena to UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
This game will be the Blackhawks’ first time playing in Milwaukee since Dec. 1, 1992, when they played the Los Angeles Kings in the regular season at the Bradley Center.
The last time Milwaukee hosted an NHL game was March 16, 1993, in a regular season game between the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings. Around 10,000 fans attended this game at the Bradley Center.
Tickets for the game are currently listed for $59 on StubHub.
